Brissa

  • Gaia: Briss (Wind Mother, Mother of Wind).
  • People: Brissan Clan, Wind People.
  • Language: Brissan.
  • Element: Wind.
  • Elemental Resource: Glass.
  • Races Ability: Enhanced Night Vision.

Home to the Wind People, the desert of Brissa is as hostile as it's people. Distinctive red dunes define this barren land and life of any kind is driven on pure survival. Hot, dry and relentless is how the Clan describes their unforgiving, desolate home and out in the dunes the Wind of Briss is their only lifeline. The Wind provides the Clan with guidance, strength and direction but most importantly the hope to survive and carry on.

Choosing tents over houses, the Clan is a nomadic race who is constantly on the move. Gifted with excellent night-vision, they navigate the harsh terrain at night, choosing to spend their days resting in any available shade. The Wind Mother is a fickle, unstable and ill-tempered Gaia and these traits are carried over to her land and her people. Resourceful and fiercely independent despite these flaws, the Clan thrives in its own way – a way that is often frowned upon by the other three races.

Food is scarce and water is non-existent in the desert and the Wind People rely on three oases that dot their homeland for subsistence. Camels are commodities and along with goats, they provide the Clan with milk, cheese and on occasion meat for celebrations and weddings.

The Wind People are a male dominant society ruled by a single Chief, but in truth the Clan's women are the ones who really have the final say. Considered a symbol of wealth, the Wind People have large families despite there not being enough land, food and water to go around.

Brissa is a land where natural resources are few and far between but the Clan has accredit themselves as the original glass-makers. They are the first of the four races to shape and mould hot, liquid sand into household utensils and weapons.

Megan Futcher's Mini-Bio:

People and cultures have always fascinated me and I enjoy thumbing through heavy books on anthropology and archaeology. My novels and novellas dive into an unknown world before recorded history and I love asking the 'what if' question while I share online and write the 4 born, a fantasy spin on human evolution and freedom exploring strength and beauty of multiculturalism.

Wind and Fire Synopsis:
